ALthough the DCA's are similar to state assessment format, at least they are assessing what we are supposed to have taught. I'm glad to have something provided that gives students exposure to the state assessment format. However, I still think it is a shame that we have to spend instructional time assessing in a way that is not best for kids.
DCA's are not an effective tool to assess what teachers are teaching or what students are learning. These kids are being tested to death and they see no reason to try. Some of these kids are tested in the four core areas at the same time.
